Dancing Above The Stars & Pressburg Is The One!

The Getty is one of Boy About Town's favorite places to visit when he is home in LA. The Getty is known for it's expertly exhibited art is & surrounded by easy-to-understand historic information. The view of LA from The Getty is beyond compair! With the return of
"Saturdays Off The 405" another summer of free events featuring emerging new bands and DJs like Chairlift and Cut Chemist kick off. Happening in the museum courtyard, the events run from 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. So after work you can go dance with the masters over looking you as you over look Hollywood! Fabulous!
The other day we posted a little piece on a man by the name of Charles Pugh. He is running for Detroit City Council. Well we got so much feed back that we thought would give a shout out to another person working hard to make a difference in their community! Dan Pressburg is running for City Council of Long Beach, California. Dan (pictured below with Boy's asst JackKay) who along with his charming wife Holly have been opening their home in the 9th district of Long Beach, California for years as a way for people to "get to know" the local political candidates & area politicians. They host these fabulous brunch's at their home, former site of the historical Long Beach Dairy and Creamery. The brunch provides an informal setting where the public can meet candidates and ask them one-on-one about their views. There has not been one issue that has arisen in the Long Beach area that Dan has not been on the side lines of. But rather then just make the speech's & shake the hands Mr. Pressburg has made it a point to explain every detail of every motion, law or ordinance to all involved. It's not fair to say Dan is of the people....Dan is the people! Rumor has it that a certain high profile member of the community will be throwing his hat in the ring for the same seat Dan is running for. This person who has spent most of his time hosting his own brunch in the more well to-do area's of the city seems to over estimate his own importance. Why leave the area your looking to represent & never deal directly with the people you are asking to work for? Dan is not a "Johnny-Come-Lately" nor is he a glory seeker. Dan Pressburg has been working for the City Of Long Beach, California for years now & is looking to continue that work for the people he lives & deals with everyday. Brad Shore
We will return!

Beckham's Exposed, The Devil Dogs Go Off On Their Own & Misty Eyez Helps A Reader Carry Some Dead Weight!

Let's start the weekend off with some hard breaking news!
Victoria & David Beckham countinue their quest for world domination with the new ad campaign for Emporio Armani Underwear. As with most of these ad's for underwear either of them are wearing much of it! You can clearly see Vic's NEW breasts! She decieded what we all knew for years, the last set looked to fake so she had them REDUCED! If you look real close you can see the price tag on them! The campaign for the brand's Autumn/Winter 2009~2010 line, was photographed by fashion photographers Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott and will appear on billboards starting this month in New York, Los Angeles, London, Milan, Rome, Paris and Tokyo.
A few of you readers have been asking about Boy's "cute little doggies"~Natalia & Tatiana! My Main Squeeze & I call them our "Devil Dogs" & they will be starting their own blog....It may sounds wierd but those two get more email's them Misty Eyez & Boy About Town put together! So stay tuned!
Speaking of Misty Eyez we are due for another Ask Misty column......So here our Diva of advice tackles a sticky situation amongst friends!

Dear Misty~I have a friend that said she would do things for a project we were working on and has flaked time and time again. She never seems to get how her blowing off the project is affecting everyone else involved. Then she comes up with lots of new ideas for things we can do, but does not understand why we get pissed when fails to carry her share of the weight. It was her idea to join us in the first place! She seems put out when asked to do things that are helping her. How can I explain that she asked to do this and has been a pain in the ass ever since.
~Over The Dead Weight~
Dear Carrying a Heavy Load~This is a tough one, and therefore should be dealt with carefully. Your friend obviously wants to be involved, hence her inviting herself in and offering the new ideas. Its hard for me to answer not knowing your age range: If your in High School and this is a school project etc, maybe she only wants to be your friend when certain people are not around... and therefore becomes flaky. If your adults, and this is a work or professional situation, maybe she has bitten off more than she can chew. Or she has no real desire to help, but she wants her name on the project, so that she can say she was involved & receive the praise or respect associated with this project. Especially if this is an important or prestigious project. In either case I understand your frustration, and you need to cut the fat, and get read of the dead weight. The least painful way to get rid of her is to give her less and less responsibility, to the point that she has nothing to do with this project. Eventually she will probably say... wait what about me? To which you will say - "Oh I'm sorry but you have been so busy or distracted lately that I haven't been able to rely on you, so I took care of it, or found someone else to do it." -- That is unless you really need or want her help, in which case you need to pull her off to the side (not in front of the rest of the team) and have a piece of paper (or seven) with a list of all the things she has failed you on. So that she can also visualize your frustrations. Let her know... LOOK I need you and I want you ... and you offered to help... But your "HELPING" is making me pull my hair out. Step Up or Step Out! ~Misty Eyez XOXO
We have had a lot feed back about the posting we did about Detroit City Council hopeful Charles Pugh (see below for that story). With that in mind we will be spot lighting different community leaders from throughout the country! We start this weekend!

La Boum~The Party, Misty A Bitch On Wednesdays, WTF TV & Boy's Farmers Report!

Lots to cover so lets get to it! Boy About Town got a very special invite to a fierce party!~La Boum: Wednesdays at Bardot~Ana Calderon hooks up with model/actress/musician C.C. Sheffield and Michelle Hernandez for La Boum (meaning “the party” in French) every Wednesday at Bardot, the ‘20s-style glam escape above the Avalon. Guest DJs are in-house every week, including live performances from the likes of Devendra Banhart and outrageous magicians for a monthly magic show. The party is exclusive as exclusive gets, but Ana says there’s always room for more clubbers so if you’re not one of her celebrity BFFs who got a hand-delivered invite or the special bracelet that grants you access, there’s going to be someone outside picking out the chosen! If you don't know where it is (you should) 1735 N. Vine St. LA

If you are on the other side on the states make sure to check out our own Misty Eyez tonight at LIPS in Ft Lauderdale! Misty MC's Bitchy Bingo~go figure!

You have heard of TMZ, Access Hollywood & The Insider (Boy About Town has been on 2 of those shows, but that was during "the scandal") well it now seems that Boy About Town & Misty Eyez along with Ruben of Real Estate with Ruben have been caught by WTF TV. They are a new cele-gossip site that found us as we ummm, "popped into" the offices of Pearl Day. Listen people, I am excited about this 5 day party in Atlanta but getting the entertainment line up from the staff at Pearl Day was becoming a pain! So we got the list & it reads like a who's who of the the party world!...Kristine W, Frenchie Davis, Nina Flowers, Power Infiniti, Junior Vasquez, Sayesha Mercado & as Boy's Buzz reported first Kelly Rowland (told ya so!) The footage that WTF TV posted is raw....Enjoy!

Meet Farmer Boy......
We here get alot of emails from people all over the place about all kinds of topics. So we are going to be putting together a "Best/Worst Of List"....Best clubs, best restaurants, best places to stay. We will also be covering the flip side! Places to avoid! There seem to alot of you that think people should know about the virtues fresh fruit & vegetables. So we have put together a short list of some of the Farmers Markets from around the country! For those of you that like to go out and buy your produce straight from the source here are the country's most popular....Believe it or not, there are year-round farmer's markets all over NYC. Being that this is the city that never sleeps there is a market every day of the week....Boy's favorite is the
Garden of Eden Gourmet Market. Garden of Eden’s interior design aims to recreate the look and feel of a traditional, European, outdoor market. While the interior space encourages exploration and relaxed shopping, the aisles and shelves are abundantly stocked from floor to ceiling with over 10,000 specialty food products sourced from every corner of the globe. You will see anyone that is anyone shopping there....or at least the people that cook for them!
Ft Lauderdale (this is where Misty Eyez shops for all of her fresh fruit, please hold all "fruit" jokes) One of Fort Lauderdale’s most popular attractions is the famed Las Olas Boulevard. Every Sunday from 9am-2pm, this block that is known for it's higher end shopping fills up with those Sun Seekers that love them some healthy eatin'! Look for Misty carrying her basket full of greens....

Boy About Town's base of operations is LA and when I am there I shop at Farmers Market LA...This local jewel, located next to the CBS studios, has been a great spot for food, browsing, entertainment and fun for the past 65 years. (They take credit cards, which is important to Boy) Enjoy cuisine from around the world and the USA. There is FABULOUS entertainment for the whole family and plenty of outdoor seating. Also featured are the some of the freshest fruits, vegetables, meats, seafood, and flowers in the entire city. Parking and admission are free.
There are 2 Farmers Markets in the Long Beach, Cali area. Boy has traveled to each of them and will give you a run down as I see it... First -there is the Friday Farmers Market which is held at City Place right near the Wal-Mart in Downtown Long Beach. The parking was great because of the garage located right there...that is where the good times end. The whole experience can be summed up in one word...GHETTO!
Then there are Sundays right off 2nd St & PCH. It starts early and tends to wind down around 1ish. There is also a craft fair so it's a great mix of people. If you're the type that like to buy your food with the dirt still on it you should check this one out!
That is a "Farmers Report"

Watch for our Best/Worst Of List later this week as we cover the Best & Worst clubs across the land!

Great Weekend And Sarah Is Starting A Whole Chapter....Wait And See

Thank You to everyone that came together together to help this past weekend be truly fabulous! The Fourth Of July Parade in Gulfport Fl was a blast & everyone is excited to see our "Travel Blog" that we filmed there, whichwill be airing soon!

Later that night we caught up with Derrick Barry~Britney from America's Got Talent. She (he)was performing at one of our favorite clubs in the eastern part of the states, G.Bar! So keep an eye out for that. Misty Eyez & Boy About Town were thrilled that this little cutie won the gift bag that he won after coming up to us with the caught phrase spilling from his lips!

It was truly Independence Day for the state of Alaska! Governor Sarah Palin held a thrown together press conference to announce that she is stepping down as the leader northern most state. While people think she is doing the right thing for her family she is mostly likely trying to defuse the fact there is the very real chance Ms. Palin will be in the middle of a very public scandal/criminal investigation, in the coming months. It will be easier to deal with while not holding public office. I am guessing that this is not what she meant by "no more politics as usual." She seems to think that after everything she can still mount a run for The White House....

The Motor City Gears Up , OctoMom Will Not Go Away, Same With Rosie & Seen About Town!

The city of Detroit, Michigan has been hard hit by the tough times we are living in. The racial divide in Detroit & the surrounding area in no secret nor is the fact the the public schools in the area have been rated some of the worst in the Union. So along comes a native son by the name of Charles Pugh that is willing to give up his successful career as a news anchor & talk show host to in order to save what some consider to be a dieing city! Mr Pugh is running for City Council. Well that is all well & good but Charles Pugh is also an openly Gay man. Now the question to ask is can he win? A lot of people seem to think he can. If there is any good news in these slump we find our economy in it is this...people are much more interested in saving there homes & jobs then they are about what their City Council members are doing in bed! Will this thinking hold up as citizens of a city plagued with crime & drugs enter the voting booth. Is Charles going to get to roll up his sleeves & work to save this once fabulous city or has he & his support over estimated the voters. Only time will tell...I am sure you will all be sharing your thoughts on the subject with us here & we love that. You can email them, as about 1500 of you do a day, or you can post a comment on this blog if you look at the bottom of this posting in very tiny printing for the word "comment" We will post everyone comments at the end of ever day...Now ya know!

Just when you thought we had heard the last of OctoMom (aka Octo-Media-Whore) Miss Stretch Marks is back! We know that she has her own reality show coming out soon (OMG) but now there is a .....get ready for this...wait for it... A MUSICAL! I kid you not. First there was Jerry Springer-The Musical (I saw that in London but I am not proud of that fact), then there was Bath House-The Musical (I have never seen that one but I wouldn't say no to tickets) and now there is this.......
The judge in the Ted Olson-David Boies federal lawsuit to overturn California's Prop. 8 and thereby restore same-sex marriage rights issued a ruling last week saying he wanted to dispense with the preliminary injunction hearing set for tomorrow and ask the parties instead to discuss "case management" -- a phrase the plaintiffs are interpreting as meaning moving speedily toward a full trial. In other words, it's on like Donkey Kong!

Speaking of getting it on...Former talk show queen ROSIE O'DONNELL will host a daily radio show for Sirius XM Radio Inc. The show is set to start in the fall. Just think of driving to work with the soothing sound of her voice easing you through rush hour! Ewwww, bad mental picture!

Lots of you have been sending us photo's from your adventures. So we thought it would be great to post some of them from time to time in a new section called..... "Seen About Town"

Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence Hit Boy's Buzz & Harriett Levey "Back By Popular Demand"

The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence......Many of you have seen them at events all over the place. To some of you this is the first time you've heard the name. Either way The Sisters will cause you sit up & take notice! They are a leading-edge Order of "Queer Nuns." Think Sally Field in the Flying Nun meets RuPaul with a dash of Grizzly Adams thrown in! The Sisters have devoted ourselves to community service, ministry and outreach to those on the edges, and to promoting human rights, respect for diversity and spiritual enlightenment. They believe all people have a right to express their unique joy and beauty. In these times of hardship for many the fact that there is a group of people that are willing to step out of themselves & help others is something Boy About Town thinks we should applaud rather then judge. AMEN! Although they started in San Francisco (no shocker there) on Easter Sunday, 1979 they have spread all over the place even to South Florida! Which is where we found the newest chapter of The Sisters out spreading the word! Watch as Boy About Town's co-host Misty Eyez chats with The South Florida Sisters Of The Rising Sun!

So Boy About Town has been hella busy lately so I asked Kid About Town~Reyna & D-$ to check out one of the many plays I have been invited to! So off they went into the streets of LA!

"Harriett Levey - Back By Popular Demand" Todd Waddington brought back his solo act back to Los Angeles for just 6 weeks, With Randy Johnson directing and the musical staging by Smith Wordes the team was able to bring the show back to life at the Hudson Guild Theatre. "Harriett Levey" was written and performed completely alone on stage by Waddington. He created a character of a woman who just couldn't give up on her flare for the dramatics! Even is she was a little older! (We are in no way making the comparison to Boy!) In this musical review, Harriet Levey, played by Waddington, put you into a very intimate setting to hear the story of Miss Levey's rise to the top and the bumps along the way. Harriet started very young as a performer even though her Jewish father, a butcher, did not like the idea one bit. Over time and once her skills improved, she became a Radio City Rockette. She was cast in movies and eventually met the man of her dreams as a flight attendant. The two were married and started a family. It was opening night for the show when Boy's Buzz was invited. There were a few off-book moments that added to the cozy feeling of this sleeper hit! Waddington was able to convince the audience of his character's back story and the fact that Harriet Levey is a woman. An old woman shouldn't be singing a Britney Spears song on stage but it worked because the former Rockette still thinks of herself as a star! For any of you that have an off the wall Aunt or Grandmother this laugh-fest will be like a family reunion! The setting was very simple - two chairs with side tables and a rug. The things that were used for the majority was a disco ball that blinded and a projector. Harriet Levey was dressed to match the disco ball that hung over head. The costume choices were flashy (they too were blinding) and right now I know Maude is looking for half her wardrobe! It all comes together for a one person show that is a MUST for the seasoned threatre go-er! SO GO! Plays411.com
